Discrepancy That Can Not be Avoided

There are several cases or conditions can not be avoided that will taking effect to any discrepancy happened. As we may be known that shipping document that is presented to bank must be in clear condition to make issuing bank doesn't have any reason not to pay to us based on presented documents to them through advising bank.

If the bank found any discrepancy, bank does not has an obligation to release the payment. So that keeping all presented document in all clean is the important thing to keep in mind.

However, there are discrepancies that could not be avoided by certain reason. Hereby I'll mention two of them that I have ever faced it:

- Late delivery.
This condition happened because of the production department couldn't reach the dead line, for example an L/C mentions the late delivery date is on June 20,2016, but the actual delivery later than, let say it's June 21,2016. Of course, it will be made document discrepancy.

- The agent unclear.
This is because forwarder who issue bill of lading, has a system to issue bill of lading, they usually can not create bill of lading manually, so that they can not change the bill of lading format. On bill of lading format written " As agent of the carrier ". This sentence make bill of lading in bad condition, discrepancy issue will comes when it's presented to the bank. If they can change the format, it should be " As the agent of the carrier.

Because discrepancy is very danger to happens and will effect to any changes comes, create document carefully and manage it.

The Maximum Weight Export to Indonesia by Courier

There are some differences process export to Indonesia between by courier and forwarder. Shipment by courier takes a shorter time consumption than by a forwarder, because the customs process more simple than. It takes only one day process in customs. Unlike shipment by forwarder, it'll take three days or more to spend for only customs process. And importer has to provide supporting document for further customs process. Imagine that your office far away from the airport that your package arrives to, of course, will taking more times to spend, because customs needs original documents instead of copy, customs will refuse copy document.

But, there is a limitation for the weight that can be proceed by courier, it's no excess 100 Kilograms. Mean, if a shipment contains more than 100 Kilograms, customs will treat the shipment like using forwarder, by general process.

The 100 Kilograms is the gross weight instead of the net weight.

So that if we have very urgent package should be arrived at destination soon, it would be better to split to become two or three shipment or Airway bills, than those can be delivered by courier.

Transferable L/C Could not be Negotiated.

One day we got some orders from a buying agent from Japan.  As usual both they and us agreed to use L/C at sight. I gave them sales contract for orders that were placed to us, then they submitted an L/C to cover those orders.

I received the L/C from our bank automatically by system. After I checked the L/C, I found some differences from other L/C we usually receive. Underneath I mention some:
-The applicant was not sown.
-There were two beneficiaries, First beneficiary and Second beneficiary.
-There was Transferring Bank’s reference.

Yes, it’s a transferable L/C.

After the goods were shipped out and I got shipping document, my manager instructed me to arrange negotiation to the bank, which meant bank give a fund based on the presented document.

At the time I sent the document to bank by negotiation, bank refused the negotiation because of the L/C that was covered the shipping document is transferable.

I have checked with other bank, and got the same treatment to such L/C, just wait payment from overseas bank.

As conclusion a Transferable L/C could not be negotiated.
